Q: Will HTMLPower destroy all my hard work if I make a mistake
when using it?
A: Under normal condition, it will not. HTMLPower supports three
kinds of output mode: "Overwrite", "Copy to another directory" and
"Create new protected file". The last two modes don't modify your
original web page, but generate a new one. But, "Overwrite" mode is
dangerous for careless user, because with this mode your original
HTML files will be overwritten after protection. 1) Don't use
"overwrite" mode, unless you know what you are doing very well. 2)
If you want to select "overwrite" mode, enable "create backup". 3)
At the worst, if you web pages has been encrypted by our HTMLPower
and you can't recover it for later edit, you may send these files to
our support team. We will help you to decrypt them.
Q: Is this text "This Web Page was protected by HTML Power" will
still shows up on the page if I buy your software? Any advice?
A: The words like "This webpage was protected by HTMLPower" are
only available with unregistered version.
Q: How does HTMLPower affect what search engines will be looking
at if all the code is encrypted?
A: All search engines simple ignore your JavaScript code, so
that all options in "Meta Tag", "Script", and "Source Code" tabs
doesn't affect search engine ranking at all. But first, you should
choose your "encryption mode" with "Encryption" tab carefully. 1)
"Protect email links": No affect on SE ranking as I know. 2)
"Protect all links": SE bots can't index your other web pages linked
by current page, but does not affect SE ranking of current page
itself. 3) "Protect BODY section": Search engine spiders can not
index this web page correctly, greatly affect SE ranking finally. 4)
"Protect entire page": Same as above.
Q: I am using HTMLPower and find it to be great. However, The
source code can still be read using Netscape. Is there anything I
can do about this?
A: To protect your source code from being seen using Netscape
Navigator 4.XX, you should enable "Make page expire immediately" in
"Meta Tag" tab before start protection.
